EDUARDO FLORES TORDA
Eduardo Flores Torda was born on November 28, 1947 in Tondo, Manila Philippines. During his younger years as an artist, he favored art style such as Realism, Portrait Painting, and at certain point, Eduardo engaged in the style of Impressionism. However, his most recent method is seen as he eventually ventured into Geometric Expressionism and in abstract.
As far as he can remember, he always knew he wanted to collaborate his skill with the arts through painting. He reminisces his childhood wherein he used to constantly draw on the floor surface of their home.
As Ed advanced in years, he attended school and continually drew. However this time, he used the walls and the other areas of his classroom. He was always passionate about painting to the point that his notebooks were always filled with drawings, which definitely got his teachers furious. The younger Eduardo was so amused with simple things like observing other artists as they paint. Watching them in their element allowed him to realize that his true passion and purpose is to be a painter.
Antecedent to painting, the artist never fails to ask God for inspiration on all of his work. Nonetheless, he will be forever grateful for his gift and talent, which he utilizes by allowing others to receive positive messages and inspiration through his work. “It is basically like preaching Gods word but through the means of my craft", he explains.
“Eduardo obviously appreciates other artists, especially those that exemplify innovation and creativity. His most admired artists are Manansala, Botong Francisco, Van Gough, Cezanne and Picasso. It is apparent that all these artists are definitely household names when it comes to the world of art.”
Furthermore, his filipino role models and mentors are William Yu and Ibarra Dela Rosa, both who are noted artists in the industry as well.
His burning desire and love for painting definitely rewarded him in many ways. He has participated in numerous exhibits since 1987 and he still continues to do so up to this day. Despite of all the hardships and trials he faced, he continued to pursue his calling as a painter. Today, Eduardo is expanding his knowledge of the arts experimenting and perfecting his recent masterpieces in abstract liquid art, an art form that he discovered seven years ago.
Eduardo would like to express, "With the encouragement of some of my filipino friends and colleagues like Mr. Robert Ko, Nick Calma and Brother William Yu, I most definitely became the successful painter i always wanted to be.”
